The strong Columbus Crowd nipped the Detroit Iron Gloves in 12 innings 3 to 2
at the ballpark in a hard fought contest.

The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings.  Columbus ended up winning it
in the 12th inning.  Johnny Estrada delivered a single.  Alex Sanchez dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out.  Garret Anderson followed, but
he was set down on strikes.  Hank Blalock was up next and he doubled.  Rocco
Baldelli stepped into the box and banged out a single resulting in an
exciting win for Columbus and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans.  For the game Columbus out-hit Detroit 9 to 4.  

Latroy Hawkins(6-1) got the win allowing no runs in 2 innings. Kazuhito
Tadano(3-2) was tagged with the loss in relief.  With this win, Columbus has
a 87-59 record.  They have been 7-3 lately.  With the loss, Detroit has a
record of 7-3 lately, 86-60 overall.
